Helping the People of Ida

BOTTLES OF HEALING AND BOXES OF HOPE:
Local Business Owner/Louisiana Natives Seek Aid for those affected by Hurricane Ida

Hello, and thank you for finding your way to the Babineaux/Chimento "Helping the People of Ida" fundraiser efforts!

Derek Babineaux, a resident of Old Saybrook, CT, and local business owner, and Nick a seasoned veteran and resident of Fort Worth, TX, are cousins and Louisiana natives. With family and friends still living down in the areas hardest hit by the Hurricane Ida, the news of such widespread devastation truly hit home.

Having grown up on the levees of Louisiana, Derek and Nick aren't strangers to hurricanes and their aftermath. But hurricanes of this magnitude leave residents desperate for help. Nick, whose mother resides in Houma, received a desperate call from her for help. Together with Amanda, Derek's wife, they started planning ways that they could help get donations to those most in need.

There will be two coordinated efforts to deliver supplies directly to our two contacts in Louisiana.

Houma Victory Church will accept donations coming out of Fort Worth. Chris Johnston, the pastor will accept donations from Lighthouse Church in Lafitte which was hit extremely hard; in fact, the water still has not receded. A registry has also been set up to send shipments of supplies to Fort Worth which will then be delivered by Nick and his team.

Monetary donations will be accepted through GoFundMe until October 5th at which point all cash donations will be distributed evenly to the parishes.

Please join Amanda and Nick in their efforts to help those families and businesses that have been left crippled by this storm. Our contacts are saying that this storm was worse than when Katrina leveled these areas in 2005. Millions of people are desperately in need of clean water and supplies - they need you!

Bottle by bottle and box by box - every donation means so much to those in need.
